In Romania, Christmas is celebrated on December 25th. During this period, all people make intense preparations for the most important of the winter holidays. The birth of Jesus Christ is celebrated on December 25th and the evening of December 24th is also known as Christmas Eve.
The most beautiful Christmas custom is the carol. The carols are songs with which children and young people greet the coming of the Savior on earth. Starred songs resound on the streets on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
A few days before Christmas, the Christmas tree is decorated with red or green ornaments, according to the tradition. The little ones are waiting for Santa Claus. He comes with a sack full of presents for good children.
Another important tradition is the Christmas table itself. On December 25th, Christmas fast ends. The fast lasts for about 6 weeks. On this day, people can enjoy traditional Christmas dishes: cabbage rolls, cakes, sausages or steak. The meat used to prepare Christmas dishes is fresh because on December 20th we have another custom- the Ignat: cutting the pig.
Christmas is my favourite holiday because I can enjoy so many beautiful customs.
